This seems to be on a lot of peoples minds so I thought you might want a place to vent your reasons.

To get you started you can do some reading here:

and here

I can't comment here as I have already decided I wanted one and got one.

OK go for it!

I am not going to say I don't want the Power Pro upgrade. I even started saving up for one. But I found that I was putting off other things that I want to do to make my shop and woodworking better. Like better storage, a mobile workbench and better heating system. If the upgrade ever seems worth the bang for the buck it will go back on the list.

Too expensive. Just no value add for me.

If I win the Lotto, then most likely. I just don't have the disposable income for it.

For my current Mark 5, I really haven't had much of a need to upgrade. But, I have been slowly restoring an older Mark 7 and I have been toying around with the idea of a Power Pro as a replacement headstock.

It is not that I don't want one. I think everyone that owns a SS wants one.
But right now the cheapest Power Pro upgrade costs more than it should. Even if I use high end figures I can't justify the cost of the Power Pro, so I can't see spending my money on something I can't justify the cost of.

Sorry Ed, but you are wrong. At least for me.

Obvioulsy I am wrong in your case. But I think most people that spend any time on this forum would like a Power Pro if for no other reason than to play with it and see how it works. The quieter sound is a big plus to me but my SS isn't loud by any stretch of the imagination.

I do not desire to purchase a Power Pro, however I truly enjoy the one I have. Jim:D:):p;)
