$100 off OPR, order by Tues. What do you all think?

I would like to hear from people who own the OPR. Is it worth the price? Is it really more versatile than a regular router table?
One thing I'm curious about is in the picture from SS, the OPR table is supported at the end. Does this mean you at least need a 510 to properly use this thing?

I already have one. Since it attaches to the way tubes, it should be compatible with any Mark V. However, I'm not sure about a 10ER.

Yes, I can see that the OPR attaches to the way tubes. I'm really talking about the OPR table itself. As seen on the SS site, it's a laminated table top. Does it bolt to any Mark V main table? And what about the supports shown in the SS pic, they look obviously coming with only a 510 or 520? Currently, I have a 500.

No, you take your regular table out and the OPR table goes into the table carriage. However, you should use telescoping legs and round tubes to support the outside of the table. They are both available from Shopsmith.

The worktable uses t-nuts to attach on the 505/510/520. When used on a 500 the table is attached using the threaded (2) table insert holes.

Hey thanks reible! Very good and precise info I can use. BTW, still haven't heard from anyone about pros &/or cons of the OPR.

I believe that there are only a few active members who own OPRs. I can only name two that I absolutely know have OPRs. One speaks highly of his and the other mentions his very seldom.
This probably doesn't help much.

I have the OPR and have found it useful. It does take some time to set up and since I now have the PowerPro I use it for simple routing jobs. I like having the bit where I can see it and what it is doing.

My experience with my overhead OPR is favorable. I also own and use frequently the conventional SS table router, but being able to see the work from the top adds control.
Nick's Sawdust Sessions, especially SS 103, covers all of the advantages and I recommend viewing those several times.
