Why is it the keyless chuck weighs so much?

Have you seen photos this thing?? The side walls are massive!! And the ID capacity is 5/8" rather than 1/2". That is a lot of steel. In general the more the steel in the chuck, the more precise it is. Just look at machinist's chucks, they tend to the massive side and tend to be very heavy.

My keyed chuck, which came with the machine, still works fine for me. I'm going to stick with what I have. Besides, that'll put me $150.00 closer to the PP upgrade!:D

Every keyless chuck I've ever used seems to slip under all but the lightest drilling procedures. I've got a pretty strong grip, but nothing like what a keyed chuck system offers.
I seem to have as much success by putting a 1" rubber "ring" cut out of a lightweight bike inner tube around my SS chuck. (still use the key for final tightening) I even use them around the keyless chucks on my cordless drills because it gives me a better grip than the plastic chuck grips.

Well, I ordered it, so we'll see what it can do.
