Glitch browsing SS forums with iPad

Last weekend, I finally updated my iPad (1st generation) to iOS 5.1.1. Afterward, the "New Posts" and "Today's Posts" links on the SS Forums no longer work on my iPad. They just return an error message saying "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.". Logging off and back on does not help, nor does rebooting the iPad. All other browsing experiences seem to be as good or better with the new OS.

Everything Forum still works fine from both home and work PC's, so it does not appear to be a user account problem. Browsing through the individual sub-foruns still works fine on the iPad.

Does anyone else have this problem with iOS? Or better yet, a fix?

Dennis, I have the same problem using "New Posts" on my iPad, only for me it's intermittent. Sometimes it works fine, but often I get the same problem you mention. I don't have a solution, but if you do find an explanation or a fix, please post.

Ken

PS - I use other several other vBulletin sites, none of which have this problem, but this site seems a few revisions behind...

I too have this problem but for me it's my desktop PC. Works fine on my Android phone. Unfortunately I have not found a solution.

What's strange is the message. It should not be "no matches found", it should be "no new posts".

I don't normally use those functions, but I just tried them out on my iPad 1, with iOS 5.1.1, and everything worked fine.

Safari on ipad is not as complete as on the apple computer.

I am not able to link to the article - can't find the link - but the Safari browser on the ipad is not a complete implementation when compared to safari on the apple computers. Same problem on iphone and ipod touch.

That is just the way apple programmed it. Just like democrats, they think they know what is best for us all - WRONG! they don't!

Time to try another browser software on the ipad, iphone, ipod touch.

Or move back to your apple, windows, linux PC.

And that is why I don't like Apple/IOS and prefer the more Libertarian Linux and Android! :D :D

Google Chrome works very well on the iPhone. It is not as "secure" as safari ( at least that's what I read ) because it doesn't encrypt as deeply as Apple, but that may be hype to keep people on Apple products.

I get the same "Sorry- no matches" message running Internet Explorer 9 on my desktop PC. The problem goes away briefly every time I delete the temp files, browsing history, cookies, etc., but it always comes back. I haven't tried deleting each category separately.

Well, no solution yet, but here is another tidbit of information. Deleting cookies on my iPad solves the problem, but only very temporarily. I never had the problem before, so from my personal experience it seems to be related to the iOS 5.1.1 upgrade. But Mike907 reports no problems using the same hardware/OS platform as mine. Go figure.

Sounds like a problem for the guys with the source code. ;)

The "New Posts" link is suddenly/magically working for me again this evening! Nothing is different on my iPad. I had figured out some browsing workarounds, but they were not terribly satisfying. I gotta believe that the source-code dudes have finally come to the rescue! :)
