Update on slipped speed changer - SUCCESS!!

Thanks to your expert guidance, I've got my ShopSmith speed changer reassembled and working properly!

As wa2crk suggested, the set screw that holds the crank handle to the shaft had come slightly loose. The crank handle had shifted slightly on the shaft, which left the gear on the back of the handle slightly out of mesh with the gear set the drives the indicator dial on the outside.

It took quite a bit of fiddling (and some swearing) to get everything all lined back up, meshing and properly seated but thanks to my new extra-long 3/32" allen wrench, a cold beer and your expert advice, I'm back up and running.

Many thanks to all. Cheers!

I am glad you worked it out.
Have you ever been to All in One Tools ?
I am just curious.

I have never been, but I have order a few Shopsmith items from them like the new fence upgrade and a few other things.
I am too far now to be able to visit (its a 9 hours trip)
You should go and let us know what it looks like and report on the forum for everyone.
It is only a suggestion and I know Toronto is a pretty big city.
I lived there for four years from 1975 to 79.
