Here's a peek at an unfinished gun cabinet for our son.
Oak ply and solid trim/face frames. Will be stained dark walnut as per request.
Not shown are the doors and drawers. Rail and stile door joints are M&T, a departure for me/ Used a Jessem M&T machine. Pretty cool little tool.

That's a great looking cabinet Gene! I'm sure your son will be grateful and happy to have it.

Did you make the dentil molding at the top? I've made a couple of projects that had that look and was amazed at how simple it was to make the molding once I learned how to register the cuts so they would have identical spacing.

Yes, I made the dentil molding, as well as all the other moldings. The plans called for routing the bottom of the dentil with a 2" raised panel bit so that is one piece but, there are two more pieces including the "crown" above the dentil.

I wish you'd have been here when I was trying to figure that dentil! As it is, I just went with 1/2" dados and 3/4" between. When I cut the 45s, I ended up with a full 3/4 on one end and half a dado on the other.

Making it was simpler than figuring how it should be centered.

I've found this is the most fun stage of a project - when all the major pieces go together and we can see the results of the sum of the pieces.
