Hey Ed, we had a article in our local rag this morning about some woodworkers in the Tampa area making urns for our fallen soldiers??

I think I remember one of your posts talking about that??

do you participate?? what can others do to help?? plans??

You are talking about the Woodcrafters Club of Tampa. I belonged to the club back a few years ago when they met in the Industrial Arts Classroom of a local highschool.

We had access to the shop and we also were able to order wood at the school prices. They had a 18 inch planner which was super for cleaning up glue up of table tops and such.

However High School program is shut down and they now meet elsewhere. After they lost accessibility to the shop and equipment I stopped going.

The also do a Fine Wood Working Show at the Florida State Fair. Each year they get a famous wood worker in to judge. Sam Maloof, Ty Frig and many others. After the Judging which was pretty boring they did a reception where we could sit down and talk to the Judge. Most of the time the Judges either told a most interesting story or detailed some part of wood working out.

I haven't been involved with the Club in years but I usually visit their display at the fair and catch up, with some of my old buddies.
