Hi,

I've been digging through a box of old and almost forgotten things today.

One of them was the Shopsmith Mark .5.

Anyone have any comments about it?

How many of you know what I talking about?

If this is a poll, you have one taker. NOPE

If I had to guess, I would say that it is a Shopsmith that has been brought to its current configuration, (Mark 5 Model 505) by upgrade.

Nope Dusty not it but thanks for trying. I promice to tell everyone if no one knows or can guess but it might be fun to read some other ideas.

Sometimes the site gets to serious so I'd like to see people have some fun and guess away... you know like a Mark 5 that someone sprayed hot water on and it shrunk... Or maybe a shopsmith with a 1/2 HP motor... How about one that was only 2-1/2 tools in one.

Yes it is/was plan number FA-1711. It cost a whole $2.95! The claim was a 40 hour project. I don't see a date on it??

I never had time to build it but it sure looks like a fun project. I guess if you wanted you could now make a few mods so it looks more like either a 510 or 520.

Anyone here make one? And the big question did the kids play with it? Or maybe better yet did you let them play with it?

I ran across a set of the Mk .5 plans a while back and so it is on my "someday" list.

I was toying (pun intended) with the idea of adding a method to allow the young SS user to safely cut craft foam or something similar. I saw a toy craft foam cutter recently in a toy store that looked all the world like the old SS jig saw.

Those of you who weren't paying close enough attention to Nick during the Clamp Caddy video may have noticed the Mk .5 sitting on top of the storage cabinet in the background.

I did see Nick's (?) small Mark.5 and wondered about it. Now I know a little more. Thanks Ed R. for the puzzle.

That sounds interesting, where could one find one of those, or is that something thats long forgotten,.,.
