Do I need a app?

I've always been a PC / Windows guy but recently got an iPad. When I select "new posts" with it I get a "there are no results" type of response. If I go into the individual forums I can see that there are new posts and can access them.
Can one of you Apple types help me out? Do I need a SS app?

Thanks

No - my iPad functions exactly the same as my MacBook (laptop) and my PC. I never use the "New posts" link but a quick check and it seemed to work fine on my iPad. I always just click the various forums and the threads with new posts are in bold, so I check that way.

There is an app called Tapatalk that is used to read forums such as this, but the forum software has to be updated to support it and I don't believe this Shopsmith forum has been. I can't speak for the iPad, but I use a web browser on my Android phone and tablet to access the forum frequently and the "New Posts" link works just fine.

Try this:

Go to settings ➡ safari ➡ clear cookies and data

Sometimes the cookies have an issue and need to be reset.

I started having that problem when I updated my iPad to iOS 5. Clearing cookies for me is a temporary fix at best. No problem when I used iOS 4.

My workaround was to change my forum-browsing style. Now I start at the top menu level, and drill down wherever the highlighted icons indicate unread posts. But I have to be careful to drill back up through each menu level ... not using the Back button ... or else the icons will still show unread posts.

A good solution would be for this site to upgrade to the current version of vBulletin. Unfortunately, email sent via the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of this page bounces as invalid.

A better solution is to use Android instead of iOS. :D

I'm reading the New Posts on my iPad right now. Try logging out and back in.

I won't get into brand wars but I have tried the suggested fixes to no avail. OK almost no avail. Inexplicably, every once in a while it forgets and works as expected.
I will change to browsing individual forums. (That'll teach it)
