As some of you know, I lost my original SS Drill Chuck (It still has not turned up).

One of our fellow forum members was kind enough to donate one to the cause.

Thanks so much. He did advise me that it was a bit rusty, but otherwise functional. So I spent some time cleaning it up before work this morning.

Without further ado, here's the pics

As received

After just a few minutes
First with a stiff wire brush to clean off the loose crusty stuff.
Then some 220 grit sand paper
Then some WD-40 to protect against flash rust.

Not "like new" but certainly serviceable and the patina goes with my 1955. Looking forward to drilling some holes that are square with the surface. The hand held drill was not cutting it for accuracy.

This is the best forum I have ever been involved with online. All of you guys are just super people.

I'll bet a box of Rust-oleum that someone, sometime will look at the chuck as shown mounted and ask "how did you get that "patina" to match so well?

I was unable to determine the maufacturer. Just glad I have a chuck now.

As for matching the patina. I'm sure time had something to do with it. I just got lucky
