Changing Morse taper

I have a question: I picked up a mini lathe at an auction, and I am wondering how do you change out the live center and the drive? It looks like it has a morse taper on it. So I know it needs to slide out and slide the new end in, but I am not sure how.

I know, it isn't a shopsmith, but I am hoping someone on here has an idea on it.

Thanks.

A gentle tap to the back(in) end should release them. Be prepared to 'catch' it.

thanks JPG! I was wondering that, but I wanted to ask before I did something that would completely mess me up.

It ended up being a deal I couldn't refuse. Even if I use it for nothing more than sanding, it has variable speed.

I think in your case the answer is no, but does the lathe have a slot for a 'tang wedge' to drive them out. Larger metal working machines have the slots which allows for blind mounting.
