How Much Should I Charge for this Planer?

I have a Shopsmith Planer, the kind that stands by itself. It was purchsed in 1987, works great. Seeing the price on the Shopsmith website gets me pretty excited for possibilities, but I am a realist as well. It's in great condition, knives sharp but due for a honing. Feed works, everything. With wheels.

What price would be fair to request? (I won't be listing it here). It's located in Michigan north of Flint.

I need help, because though I use Shopsmith products, I've never pruchased it, it was all bought my grandpa.

Thank you for your help.

Heck, I was foolish enough to buy one for $700, so I'm sure there are other easy marks out there like me :) You can always go down but not up on the price.

A recent thread covered the same discussion:
https://forum.shopsmith.com/viewtopic.php?t=13080

In that case, he stated it was "like new" or "new old stock"...ie it was never used but is 23 years old. Anyway, lots of discussion there about potential asking price FYI

In this case and the referenced thread, pictures would help to provide additional insight.

I have one for over 20 years old and love it. I have seen them go for $300 in good condition. I would pay that if it is what you say. I am in Grand Rapids. If you hold onto it I suppose you could get more. I purchased a Ryobi for $50 and it worked well and when done I would put it on floor and be done with it. Sold it for $100 and was well worth it. Whatever the market will bare and how much patience you have. Good luck in selling it for the price you want. I kept
my shop smith one. Looking for one for a friend. I have about 2 or 3 of everything else. Hard to say no to SS tools they are so unique!
