So, I'm waiting for delivery of my 5/8" smooth bore to 1" 8tpi adapter so that I can use the One-Way chuck I recently acquired. Any thoughts?

I like mine from PSI use it with a barracuda 2 scroll chuck, and my collett chuck.
No complaints here.

I on the other hand had all sorts of problems with the PSI adapter. I finally had to make some modifications to it to make it play nice. I drilled new second hole for a standard 5/16-18 set-screw at an angle that matches the tapered flat on the shopsmith shaft.
This has come up for me again for other reasons so I have been in contact with PSI and two e-bay sellers. One has not responded back while the other two have confirmed that they are still making them with metric set-screws and perpendicular holes.
I'm attempting to confirm yet another supplier that makes them here in the USA rather then the other 3 who get them from China. They cost more but since I'm a purest on this subject I'm will to play a bit more and get what I want.
Again you are best off if the chuck maker has a shopsmith insert like Nova does with the proper fit and no added extension. The more it sticks out the better chance of bad results. I'm not sure what other chuck makers have but I'm sure name brand quality makes have an adapter for use with the shopsmith.
BTW the third party had an email for me and it is now 3 for 3 on the metric set-screw and perpendicular hole. Could be all three source the adapter from the same place in China.

I have the One Way adapter for the Talon chuck that I bought from Shopsmith before they switched to Nova chucks. Its setscrew is not bored at an angle, either. I haven't used it enough on the Shopsmith to know if that is a problem.
Why not go with the One Way Shopsmith adapter instead of using two adapters to attach the chuck?

I have the adapter (1x8tpi) that fits the SS. I use it with my Rockwell Delta 4 and 3 jaw chucks. I haven't had any problems.

I have the One Way Talon chuck and the SS adaptor. I have used the chuck on the SS to turn some bowls and such as well as pens. I have no problem using the SS adaptor on the chuck.
If anyone is interested, the part number for the One Way SS adaptor is 0260 and the last time I checked it was still available.

I have the same set-up but do have problems. Sometimes it starts to come loose and I get a vibration. The set screw goes in straight, not angled, but I think the real problem is that it lines up with the deepest part of the bevel on the SS shaft. I don't think the chuck/adapter is flush tight against the SS collar, the end of the bevel prevents it. The SS collar is a bit wore and I plan on getting a new one with my next order. Hopefully that will help.
Best that I can figure, "5/8 inch straight" is an established standard for lathes in the UK. SS having a bevel being a variation from the norm.

I bought a PSI chuck and adapter several years ago. It has been fine for betweeen-centers turning, but has a bit of play between the chuck and adapter that sometimes causes a random vibration when not between centers (bowls, hollow forms, etc.). I've not had problems with the adapter on the SS's spindle.
