If anyone knows of a reliable sharpening shop in the Southern Cal region I would appreciate a heads up. I am in Huntington Beach and there has to be someone in this area.

I doubt you will find someone. I lived in Anaheim Hills until a couple of years ago and found s place in City of Industry that really botched a blade. Last year I shipped 3 blades to New York and they came back perfect; in fact better than a blade I had recently purchased new. I normally don't make recommendations but in this case would. It's a family owned business.

Thanks for this post. If their blades are as impressive as their website they just might become an alternate to Forrest which is where I have had all my saw blades sharpened. I have them bookmarked.

Just wondering, how many times can a saw blade be sharpened?

It depends on how careful the sharpener (in my case, Forrest) is about taking off carbide. I have three blades that each have been sharpened three times and the carbide still appears to be adequate.

I don't know what the maximum is.

Not many people or companies really understand the principles involved to do a really good job of sharpening saw blades. The company video above proves my point as only a computer or a very skilled person can repeat the process on every saw tooth. I was given a Foley-Belsaw blade sharpening machine many years ago. I quickly found there are many areas and measurements that you must be concerned with and different areas to be grounded to do a true sharpening job. I finally gave the equipment away as none of the saw blades I tried to sharpen really worked that well.

I believe a good saw blade sharpening person or company is more rare than a good machine shop which are real hard to find. It is worth the postage if you find one like listed above as I find a properly sharpen saw blade will cut much better and longer than when it was new.

Have you tried Roberts Saw here in Tampa? They have always done what I thought was an excellent job on blades for me

Last I knew So Cal was on the far side of the Rio Grande.

Thanks ED. I have not done much sawing in the past couple years so still have a collection of new and sharpen blades to where I can discard them when they become gummed or dull. I have been using the $10 Harbor Freight 10" carbite tip blades with 5" blade stabliizers which is close enough for my woodworking tasks. I still have one or two really nice saw blades to use if I am cutting for any furniture type project.

I would go with the computer guided sharpening service if I was to do any sharpening in the future. I spent many hours trying to learn the sharpening techniques without much success.
