'New" use for my head stop device

When horizontal boring a quilt rack leg, I found that I needed access to the partially drilled hole, but I wanted to come back to the same location if further drilling was needed. I attached the head stop before moving the head and was able to later return to the same location with considerable accuracy.

I have a Mark V, two 510s, and a 520 and you slip he POWERPRO in this great tip on the forum. Trying to make me drool?

And the blue painters tape on top of the headstock serves what purpose?

I don't know but I would venture the guess that it is "anti-scratch".
blue painter's tape is critical!

at least in this case. I could not use the quill stop in this configuration because the knob on that stop hit my workpiece. I had to take the knob off.
So the out was to tape a scale on top (with blue tape, as noticed) and use it to measure when the proper depth of bore was obtained.
