I would really appreciate it if someone who has installed the scales on their Adjustable Stop Collar (and believes they are done correctly) would post a picture of the Stop Collar with the two pieces screwed tight to one another.

I think that mine will work but it sure doesn't look like the pictures in the instructions even though I would swear that I followed them to the letter.

With the stop collar screwed down, I would have expected the "0" annotation would align with one of the four arrows on the reference tape. Actually, I would have expected the "0" to align with the "A".

On mine, the "A" aligns with .0505".

As I many times do, I decided to ignore the instructions and do it my way. Well, my way resulted in no improvement what so ever. The issues with this application are a bit different but the results are no better.

I put the Reference Scale (A, B, C, D) on first and then aligned the "0" to the "A" when I applied the Indexing Scale. I did a poor job of keeping the scale properly oriented. Thus the maligned ends.

I realize that there are more graduations on the decimal scale, but I find that my woodwork always deals in fractions; even my woodworking caliper is fractions on the outside (down to 1/64) with decimals on the inside. My decimal-only caliper hasn't been used since machine shop.

I am thinking of cutting off the decimal portion so the fractional is closer to the arrow and maybe gluing the decimal scale below. Covering the mm scale is no loss IMHO (haven't been able to use that acronym in a long time!).

Has anyone tried that yet?

Yours looks much better than mine. I ended up with quite a gap but the graduations are so fine that it makes no perceptible difference.

I have not had these long enough to really conduct an evaluation but my first impression is that I will use them very infrequently. I did not study the description before I ordered.

For what I will use these for, I could definitely have done without the decimal scale. By interpolation on the fraction scale, I can get as close as I will ever need.

I am finding that accuracy is far more important to me when at the drill press than on the table saw.

When I ordered my adjustable stop collar, I did not think of the rules for it, so I am looking for a replacement solution and am not tempted by the one SS sells. Cannot order it anyway from SS because I am in Canada,

Can the problems caused by your being across the border be resolved by someone purchasing on this side and shipping to you (across the border)?

If so, I know how to solve your problems.

I bought the stop collar through a member of this forum who was nice enough to do this for me and send it to me afterwards.

But I forgot about the scales to put on it.
