Has anyone found a source for wheels for toy projects. I am looking for a source where I can get wheels in the 100s not a dozen at a time. I have 8 grandkids so when I am making cars or trains I make more than one or two at a time. I have picked up a lot of patterns for older style trucks and cars and getting started on my Christmas for this year. Maybe we can share some of the Christmas projects with each other again this year.

OK so I am getting old and did not remember last years Post and when I searched it I did not find it either. Biggest problem was computer crashed and lost most of my favorites I had save. But Craft supplies was just the location I was looking for. So hope I don't lose that again.
Thanks for the help. As soon as I am allowed back into the shop from surgery I will start getting some of these trucks done and will post some picutres.
Also was on the web cast for the power pro last night with Doug and he put on a good presentation and also I was not aware of his youtube site with all the SS videos he has done. If you have not gone there it is worth the trip.

I make my own wheels similar to the ones from Hobby Lobby. I did six dump trucks this summer that took 60 wheels. They only seem to have one package on hand at a time at our local store. I cut 2 1/4" squares then countersunk a 3/4" by 1/4" deep hole in the center with a forstner bit. Drill a 3/8" hole all the way through. Use a bandsaw circle jig with a dowel for center to cut 2 1/8" rounds. Cut the head off a 5/16" bolt and put the wheel between two nuts on the threaded portion of the bolt. Put the former head end in a drill chuck and turn with lathe tools. The basic truck is from a magazine but I redesigned the dump box with mitered corners and biscuits to hold the sides to the bed. I use a dado blade to make the side panels.
