is a plaque of my family crest for our family reunion coming up in October. I carved it with my CarveWright CNC machine. I made the pattern from a picture downloaded from the internet. I plan on having a drawing to see who gets the plaque and the rest of the attending family will sign it for the winner.

Very nice! I'll bet you're going to get a lot of requests for more work!

Hey, I have a couple of clumps of Moore's in my family tree.
One batch supposedly from Bengeworth, Worcestershire, England in the 1500 and 1600 time frame. Came to MA "very" early and one married into my Washburn line.
Another one from VA then KY married into my Bryant's about the 1820's.

I just discovered my family crest and it is being embroidered for me but if I could come up with a way to do mine like you did that would be awesome

Francis, I think the Moore family tree has a bunch of branches as it seems to be a fairly common name. Who knows? Maybe we have common relatives somewhere down the line.

Really fine work. What kind of paint did you use for the coloring? I have a Mitchell crest and would love to do something like that for our family. Cool!!

I used acrylic paint from the hobby store. When I am totally satisfied with the project I will spray on a coat or two of lacquer to seal the colors.

Would this work for you? It would be painted after carving.

Nice work! How do you like your CarveWright? I have heard so many mixed reveiws, what has your experience been? Is it as problem prone as they say?
