FWIW, the controller is a more likely villain.

Ok, but should the infeed roller run while the planer is running or only when I put a board through it? And if it is the dial that's jacked can I purchase a used one somewhere....those babies are expensive to! lol

The motor shaft and feed rollers have directly connected spur gears. Thus the feed rollers should turn when the motor turns.

Since these babies are indeed Veeeery expensive(from SS) it behooves us the absolutely pinpoint the reason for non-rotating parts.

As stated elsewhere, IIWM, I would start by eliminating the motor as the culprit.

We also need to do this a step at a time. You likely cannot imagine the tangents possible for a discussion to take on this forum.:rolleyes:

I will save comments re the controller for when it becomes relevant.

Eliminate(or determine) the motor as a problem first(tis the easier to do).

ok...the infeed motor is fine...the rollers are moving and when I turned the dial up, I could visually see the rollers increase there speed. When I bought this Friday, I couldn't hardly push a 1x6 through it. However, the only thing I did was blow the planer out really good. I don't know if it was just plugged up or what. Im gonna put another board through it now.

While it is functional, I suggest that you make some voltage measurements to ascertain the normal voltage readings. Then I suggest you turn it off and make some resistance measurements.

As a side comment, the infeed motor controller does not have the best reputation one could ask for. But worse than that, the Shopsmith price for a replacement is absolutely ridiculously high. They are the only source and it seems that they are taking advantage of that.

thanks again for your help guys! im gonna try that wax first! Wow that table could really use it! Hope that will help pull the boards through! Ill have a multimeter here tomorrow as well as that wax. Ill post results tomorrow P.M. Thanks again
