I found this on Craigs List about 150 miles away. Is this worth investigating. The asking price is $150 OBO.

I don't know much about Shopsmith scroll saws. However I do have two that are from companies that have gone out of business.

It is a little older but it is a good buy I think. Last year I sold one that mounts on SS for 400. This year I am trying to sell one for 200 and finally did. I have one like yours newer black with see through plastic, got it for 200. I am planning on selling it for 350 if i can . Will see lol.
I think you have a good deal but would not hurt to get him down some more for a cushion in case something does break.

Looks decent enough(table is aluminum so that is not rust). Tis the older style(but upgradable) blade tension/blade holders.

Make sure it includes the blade holders and any spares if existent.

Anyone know what the model number is for this saw?

I have emailed the owner but he has yet to respond.

No phone number in the ad.

It appears SS no longer 'offers' the stand alone model.(???)

555272 would be my 'guess'.

I got one a few months ago off Craigslist for $50. It had a broken rear table mount. I was able to obtain the part from SS as well as the blade holder and clear cover upgrades.

no longer make ss mounted ones. I have two on stands and one stand alone. They are worth the money especially when you can buy them in great condition at a fraction of what you can buy them new.

Is this a variable speed scroll saw?

How does it compare to the newer model?

I decided to let this one go. It's to far away just to go look and the seller didn't give any contact info.

Besides I already have two scroll saws.
