Happy accident

My shop dustpan handle had a failure. I am not sure how it happened but I think it was caused by my Shop Ghost  (anyway that's my story). I tried using the dustpan but I think the length of my arms may be shrinking. At one time I could bend down and put my hands flat on the floor. Now when I bend down my fingertips are about 6 in short of touching the floor. I was about to throw the dustpan in the dust bin when the light bulb lit. Why not repair the handle but extend it 7 in higher to compensate for my shrinking arms?

Well done! I love that sort of fix + improvement. Keeps the brain-cells ticking.

I used a leaf blower until it gave up the ghost.

A tour through my shop provides evidence that I need to go buy a leaf blower.

I do things like that. Spend hours on the SS making something that I could buy for $1 at Dollar Tree - e.g., a dustpan with an handle and a broom. But what does that save. Well a dollar. My time's no longer worth that.

I find that using my leaf blower to clean the dust out of my shop (aka garage) is a neat way to de-dust everything. On low I can even point to the shelves from a distance without disturbing more than dust.

Also I then dust off the driveway with it instead of using water - of which, we are scarce down here in SoCal.

Hmm, I haven't tried to touch the floor in so long I don't know if I could even come within 6 inches, Glen

Another use for a leaf blower - but to be done when your wife is gone for half a day. Blow out the dust bunnies that collect under the refrigerator. If she is there when you do it she will emotionally hemorrhage and your hemorrhaging will be elsewhere.
