Speed Changer Problems?

I searched the site and I'm not quite certain if my problem is the same as some other inquiries about speed changer alignment or slipping. Basically, what's happening is that the speed apparently won't ratchet down below E or F.
Now it could be that it's reached the lowest speed at E, and the dial is out of alignment, or that it really won't slow down to A,B,C,D. I think the latter cause it seems a little fast for being way down on the scale. But, obviously I'm not sure what it is, or what to do about it. I appreciate your thoughts.

What does the dial indicate when set to highest speed? If the dial is mis registering, it will indicate way past 'fast' at the upper 'stop'(B/C).
Is the knob hitting a stop at 'E/F', or is the speed change negligible from that point down to 'slow'.
Performing a 'high speed' adjustment may reveal the cause. Are both sliding sheaves well lubricated?

The speed change is negligible, or none at all, from that point down.
Thanks...I will try a "high speed" adjustment.

That mean the dial etc. are moving down towards slow?

yes...its moving to the slower range, but not actually slowing.

Take the belt cover off.
Observe the floating sheave move in/out.
Is the floating sheave(bottoming out) at "E" or is the sheave 'sticking'?
Where is the motor belt when set to fast? (All the way up ignoring the dial.)

I'm back. I did a high speed adjustment, and lubricated both sheaves. The speed dial appears to be dead on--stops at low and high.
I observed the sheaves at high and noted that the belt is about 1/8" below the outside perimeter. The belt appears to bottom out at about the "c or b" setting, and the motor is now slowing somewhat more than it did when it reaches the bottom of the alphabet. However, there doesn't appear to be any discernible difference between "C" and "A"; it is better, and I can live with it unless you suggest something further.

Set high speed stop with belt closer to the outer edge of the pulley. That should increase the downward range.
However if yer belt is worn(less than 1/2" wide) the control sheave may interfere with the speed control or the belt may drop down into the control sheave too low(possibly jamming). If so back it off. Then get a new belt.
