Based on quickly the bidding has skyrocketed on this newly listed SS clock on E-Bay, me thinks SS should consider having some of these made and sold for likely substantially more then they would cost to make:

It's a cool clock and I'd like to have one in my shop, but $86 (and climbing)? I'll be interested to see how high it will go, being already well out of my $$ league.

In the 1994 catalog, that clock (Part # 722010) sold for $21.95. I would like to have one (in place of the Woodcraft clock that now hangs in my shop) but I would not give much more than the original $22 to get one.

You can go to a graphics shop and have a new face printed for less than that and a [url=htthttp://www.4alarmclocks.com/ge0314cobapo.html? ... IHkAngp://]similar clock[/url] is not all that expensive.

So I'm more confused than usual with this discussion!

A clock in the shop?? Why? Does it have a reason, purpose or anything similar?

This is such a novel and strange concept! A clock in a sanctuary. The next thing one of you will be writing about is having a phone in the shop!:eek: That's too scary to even think about even with Halloween approaching!

If this was April 1st, I'd realize this ruse about a clock was just a cruel joke.

Anyway, I thought I'd follow this thread to see if I could make any sense out of it, but I know that would be nearly impossible for me. I guess some things are best left unknown.

That was my first thought - to get a new face printed and insert it in a new clock. I also agree I'd pay maybe $20-$25 for one but nothing more...I could see if it was some cool vintage clock from the 10 E era with an enamel face, glass lens, metal frame etc., but for what amounts likely to a generic plastic clock with a shopsmith logo...I'll wait until SS decides to have such an item made again and consider it based on the price.

I need a clock so that I can take my pills on schedule otherwise I could care less what time it is. SWMBO will tell me when I have to come in for the night and for meals.

Sorry about the confusion, Ben! I fully understand why a guy wouldn't think of having anything in the shop that would connect him to the outside world, but some of us are strange/:eek: At my age it is these strange things that work for me.

In my shop are a clock, a hardwired phone, one of a two way radio, and a TV. ---- Holy Smokes:eek:

At supper time in my house I'd better be inside, or I'd miss a meal.

I also use the TV to tell time during the week. Having only one channel on indicates to me the time of day to the nearest hour. If I notice a certain show is on I know the quitting time is coming near. Then I can check the clock (which also has a RH and temp dial) and see if it's time to start cleaning.

Today while routing, I had a football game on. At times when I shut down the 3300 and router, I could pause and see a play and get the score.

The two way radio is a way to communicate with my Wife if something in the shop goes wrong. I hate blood on the wood:eek: Also if the Wife needs help, I can be there in a flash.

The phone has come in handy for calling Shopsmith or others about parts. I don't take calls unless it rings 5 times, then stops and rings again right away. Then it's the wife.

Oh Yeah! There is also a sink with running water and soap dispenser. This is handy for use during glue jobs and is used to wash up before supper.

It's been nearly 31 years since I had a SWMBO (she became a lawyer which helps explain why I never got to win ANY discussion and every new argument began with my last word(s).

My pills are easy for me. One beta blocker when I get up and all the rest of the pills, HBP, Cholesterol, aspirins, oils, and more beta whatevers when I go to bed.

Can't scratch my head and pat my large belly at the same time, so having a TV on would be inviting a trip to the ER.
Only get calls from those who have my best interests at heart by trying to relieve me of my SS check in favor of them getting a commission by me donating to their favorite cause.
I'd do have most of my 8 tracks and cassettes converted on a digital player, but with hearing protection and the sound of the equipment, I'd have to have the volume as loud as the kids down the street that are into thumpa whumpa music (though I question it's value or reality as MUSIC:rolleyes: )

Mealtimes are when I figure the heartburn that I created from the previous meal has subsided enough for me to try and ruin something else (okay, the reality is I am a good cook - learned from my Dad). Mom couldn't boil water without burning it and the ex thought that take out WAS a form of cuisine.

I can sort of see why you both have clocks, phones, etc. in your shop. Until I got my Wixey, I carried my cell phone into the shop. It made a great protractor / angle setter / level!

I do have a clock in the house! It's correct twice a day!

I did consider putting an old laptop in the shop, but figured I would use it to surf the internet to find the correct way to do something before thinking about it, rather than screw it up first and the go back and try to fix something. Sort of the cut three times and then see if I can find something to use to measure method!

I have made a few clocks. I give them to friends who are still working. Yep, I'm THAT guy!

Baseball is over for the evening and Mom called to say she is excited for the World Series to begin. She played pro ball in 1946 (Peoria Redwings of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League) and was inducted in to the Hall of Fame in 2002, so the World Series is a big thing in her life. I have to find out which team she plans to cheer on or it could be a LONG series if I pick the wrong one!

Careful what you call an ER here. I've currently got 3 of them. One of them is right behind me, so a "trip to the ER" would take a step or 2.

Now, a trip to the Mk5, since I don't know anyone close by, would take some time. (But, as a kid, my next-door neighbor had a MkVII. Also had a melted "pork chop.")

You know I'm just funning with you, Ben.

(Oh, since I'm in a tiny 1 bedroom apartment, one of my ERs is in {except for the way tubes} in 4 milk crates.)

Now about that 'called to dun din'; When did that start? All I get called out for is to fix 'us' something!(a carryover from SWMBO having previously been bedridden fer a loooong time).
