I should have put this where I could delete it.

I am still working to recover some lost files and applications.

Earlier, I was unable to retrieve and/or resize PNG files. I just found that I have that capability as a function of Paint.

Thank you. Yes, it is Sketchup. It is one of what was many. I lost a flash drive that was loaded with about two years worth of work sketching Shopsmith parts.

No, there was no backup.:o

Ah, but Dropbox will replicate your files to local storage on as many devices as you want. (At least I don't recall a limit.)

For me, that's four PC's and an iPad, in at least two different locations. Not to mention the backed-up copy that Dropbox stores in the "cloud". So even if Dropbox itself went down, I would still have all of my files stored locally on all those machines. That's an incredible amount of backup redundancy for personal data. For free!

You guys are doing an excellent job of making me feel even more ignorant than I already felt.

Yes, it is STUPID to have not had all of these files (photos and drawings) adequately backed up. This is especially true since this is not the first time I have had this problem.

Well now you know how I feel when I see those fantastic Sketchup drawings of yours! ;) I've played with Sketchup a little bit, but I just haven't had time to get competent at it. :(

Not my intention :o just a thought for next time. I've still got crucial files on external hard drives that i know will fail sooner versus later.

Any chance you published any to the 3D Warehouse? You could get some back that way maybe?

Yes, I have both a couple files on 3D Warehouse. Unfortunately, only a couple.
