Anyone in the area interested? That book sitting on the way tubes is worth about 1/2 the asking price.

And what is the title of that book, pray tell? 1964? Not! Surely you are not the one who is selling this? I thought not.

I would suggest that $125 is at least $100 too much for Power Tool Woodworking For Everyone unless it is signed by Hans and RJ.

I've seen the 53 edition go for MUCH MORE than that.

No, I'm not selling it, but after emailing the seller, I could be buying it. No, he won't sell the book alone. (DANG!!)

If I still had a hard copy of the book, I'd pass, or try to dicker the price down. But, since my fire burned all my stuff that wasn't cast iron, I do want a copy. (Yes, I've got a digital copy. But...)

DB5, I noticed the listing has it as a 64 Shopsmith. It may be a 46 Shopsmith. It's certainly an ER.

If I remember correctly, the first 10E's were made in '47, but based on the rip fence and extension table, that's an ER and not an E, so I'm guessing it's more likely a '50-'52 vintage. No speed changer but does have shaper fence and jig saw...I'd say $100 is a more reasonable price, or maybe $150 if you really want the book as well. Way tubes look to be in good shape, so potentially a good machine in need of minimal restoration (assuming motor and headstock are in good shape).

In this area, this is a decent deal, at least from what I've seen.

Yes, it's an ER, not an E model.

However, since I'm without transportation, the seller will have to deliver, and this one is all the way across the valley.

It all depends on what is in that bucket. (And, I WANT that book!)

The legs look OK, but I'm nervous about the casters. They're kinda hidden. (But, I've got 3 sets of legs and casters, already.)

It does have the shaper/jointer fence, and it is the 500/ER fence, not the ER only fence. The 500/ER fence is the better of the 2. (I've already got the ER fence, and I do want to update.)

It also has a set of lathe tools, which I'm still lacking.

The way tubes do look good, but I've got my DC conversion motor, so this GE motor, will be a stand-by. (I've got 2 more replacement motors, now. One of them will be on my stand-alone drill-press, however.) The GE motor, I think, is reversable, too.

One more thing, they aren't printing any more ERs, and some parts may soon be scarce.

I'm BANKING on that.

I do not see a 'jointer' fence. Only a Mark 5 shaper fence.

I would be concerned re the 'wheel' obscuring the casters.

The 'blue' book typically gets $25 to $50 on e-bay.

With the ER jointer head, it is safe to assume that would be a "shaper/jointer" fence.

The ER came with a 3 inch jointer attachment, hence the "shaper/jointer" name. Alas, I don't currently have one. Hopefully, the bucket...

JPG, way back when, you could get a jointer head to mount on the spindle. It was 3 inches long, similar to the drum sander in size. That Mk5 500 shaper fence also fits the ER.

Yes, I'm getting it. He will deliver for that price.

The bucket had a BUNCH of other goodies in it, molder (shaper?) heads, 2 arbors, lathe tools, mortising rig, grinding wheels, saw blades, and the usual ER stuff.

And, the book.
