Recently, a friend of mine lent me his issue of Fine Woodworking. This is their annual "Tools & Shops" issue.

On page 60 is an article by Bob Van Dyke explaining how to build and use an "L-Fence".

I don't know if anyone else has seen this article, but I can see a number of advantages in using this fence, if nothing else, reducing the chance of a kickback. Also, included in this article, are a number of tips on how to use this fence with various templates

Hopefully, after I finish scrolling Christmas ornaments, I'll customize this fence specifically for my 510.

Since I'm not a member I can only see a small image of the jig.

To me it looks a lot like a fancy version of a pattern jig. I've used these for a long time and even have a post here showing the use of one.

I believe that the PTWFE shows them too.

In case I'm wrong about this could you get us some more detailed information?

I'd be interested in your evaluation. After reading the article, I just couldn't see any particular advantage to me.
