I found this so called Mark VII on an ebay listing. I've never seen one like this. Is this really a Shopsmith? Some of the components look familiar.
Here's the link.

Yep, that is a Mark VII. It's from the '60s.
Do NOT confuse it with the Mark 7.
That box on the bottom holds a vacuum, to collect sawdust. Like the Mark 7, it tilts from both sides.

Actually, it appears as though the vacuum is missing. It is driven by the shaft protruding from the right side of the motor pan.

The 'box' served as a container for a vacuum bag(has a hose port).
Rob's second pix shows some more missing/replaced parts.
The lock key is missing.
The motor switch has been replaced with a toggle switch(hopefully with a 3[or4]PDT center off).
P.S. It also shows a 'quirk'. It had both Mark 'VII' and Mark '7' labeling.

Looks to be well cared for in general.
I notice that the built-in dust collector blower is missing.
It looks like the plastic rack gear on the back of the front way-tube is intact which is kind of rare but it may well be quite brittle with age.
The accessory count is reasonable.
It might make someone a nice unit for about 1/3rd of that $1000.

Francis did ya notice the added hinges and knob to the base? I have been considering a similar change since I will be using the base for storing attachments.
I will use the vac blower as a pre-vacuum generator fer the DD and DC.

Yes it does.
So does mine.
I have posted a pic of it before when the "new" Mark 7 was coming out and we were talking about it.
Yes JPG I did see those hinges and knob. Looks like it should work OK.
I didn't notice if the carriage stop rod was there or not.
