I have a I think Mark 5 (it is the brown and gold one) and after reading my book for it I did not see how to adjust the table from front to back. When I drill holes in the edge of a board it is off a bit. Is this done by adding shims?

I believe it says Mark 5 on the plate near the top of the headstock.

'Adjust front to back'. Why? For what?

Drill in edge of board? What is 'off'?
