20"Scrollsaw/Square Hole in Table

There is a square hole in the right, front corner of the Shopsmith 20" Scrollsaw Table.
Can anyone tell me what is the purpose of this feature?

I am answering from the train home and working by memory
As I recall the two square holes were to place and adjust the old original blade holders
You could set the distance exactly and tight the screws
After you would reinstall the holders with the secured blade back in the arms
If the saw has been upgraded you have it much easier no need for tools or the square holes anymore
