I think I started down this road before but let me try again. My sanding disc came from my 57 greenie and is aluminum. I am wanting to order some discs but the note in the Shopsmith page specifically say for steel discs.

I have never had any trouble with the aluminum disc but obviously there must be some difference. Do I need an upgrade prior to ordering the new sanding discs?

I use the PSA sanding discs that Shopsmith currently sells with my aluminum sanding discs.

I think this has more to do with SS Inc./successor did not having made any aluminum discs. A bit self centered IMHO.

They should work fine on the older aluminum discs.
