I recently acquired a 1980 Mk V.

I am trying to take the headstock apart for a complete cleaning.

The power switch is a toggle with the ring "nut" that has a notch on each side.

All of the instructions say to use a large screwdriver and just turn it.

I can not tell how you would get a screwdriver into both notches at once and if it is only to go in 1 how will it turn it.

Can anyone tell me how to turn this "nut" or some place with pictures?

That's the best help I can offer. Maybe someone else has additional thoughts.

If you want to make a tool, 1/2" tubing, cut the end leaving two 'tang's to engage the slots.

Have you tried the single screw driver yet?

I have modified several 1/4" drive sockets by grinding off about 40% of the lower 1/4" skirt on two sides leaving two prongs to engage the spanner nut cut out slots.

When in a hurry I use a 1/4" wide flat blade screwdriver fitted in one of spanner nut cutouts and tap the nut loose switching from side to side with the screw driver and hammered the screwdriver lighty.

I was able to get it off.

Surprisingly it took one of the cheapest tools I have.

I used an old Z shaped screwdriver that has a Phillips on one end and a straight blade on the other. This gave me enough leverage to get it to turn.
