I don't know if there is any legitimacy in this but I could not resist passing it on. Given what I have witnessed over the last four or five years, this is very easy for me to believe.

Well If I saw one of those guards and I was a cattle I'd be eying that up as a cattle trap and going no where near it. I don't know how guarded I'd feel.

I don't know what everyone is debunking but the cattle guards are authentic.

The pit thet go over is usually dug deep enough that the animal (sheep, cow, hog, whatever) leg will not touch bottom and spacing is wide enough to allow the foot to go through.

Animals will not cross these.

Now the rest of the story may or may not be true.
