My Wife wanted a fold out sewing box similar to the one her Mother had when she was a little girl. I put far too many hours into making one. I finally got it put together today so she can start using it.

Did you make up any plans or save the measurements to make another one some day? Did you have any pictures or plans to start with? There are a lot of interesting techniques that you used and must have been time consumming. Thanks.

I found a picture on the internet of a similar one. Working from that, I built it from that picture. I started with a 10 foot long 5/4 x 6" rough sawn cherry board and worked from there. I think I have most of a 5 gallon pail of cherry chips and sawdust left over from the project.
I didn't draw up any plans, but I doubt I'd ever build a second one. I probably put 50 hours into it, so it is time to move on to a different project.

I can see why it took many hours with all that detail. I hope your wife enjoys it for a long time.

I don't know about too many hours,. but it was surely enough to make something magnificent and treasured!
