Gambling hardware style

I'm at the hardware store looking for some hardware. I need 8 of these, the cost off the rack is $.79 ea.

Simple math I go with 8 * 8 or some where near $6.40 minus... well how ever you do your math we are talking $6.32. But then I spot this grab bag of hardware and yes I can see at least some of the exact same parts in the bag.

The bag is $5 but will there be 8 of the parts I need? If say there are only 7 then if I take this bag home I will have to do a return trip to pick up another one. Well the drive will cost more then the possible saving but I'm not in a hurry for the parts so I could combine trips at another time.....
That is a 5 pound or so bag so at a $1 a pound this is still cheap hardware.
So do I gamble that I will find 8 of the parts I need or just buy the for sure number off the rack. As you can tell from the picture I went with the bag.
Was it a good gamble?
I'm going to open the bag and see, check back later for the results.
