Mark II

Will an old Mark II be able to accept a Mark V headstock?
Are the bench tubes and way tubes the same so that I can mount the headstock, if I get one? Any anticipated problems or further cash layouts?

I picked up a Mark II from a guy who was going to dump it.
Holds my strip sander and jointer when needed, and turns my sanding wheel when I like, though it has some other motor on the bottom hangling all over the place. She still works. I think I know the answer but want be sure before I lay out the $.
TIA:confused:

Read the Shopsmith History, this answers your question. Yes the Mark V headstock will ride on your Mark II tubes.

You can pay me what I paid him.
Come get it. There just is not enough time left on the planet to do all that I would like. But be advised, it sits low. Apparently Montgomery Ward had short people then!?! The motor is not SS, and it hangs below the headstock, but it turns.
I am ambivalent about it. :o

I would,

But my shop has to fold down to 91/2' of wall space.:(
I now have it down to 10', no car tonight.:D
