So the PTWFE for the Mark VII by R. J. de CHRISTOFORO arrived this AM.

Immediately I looked at the shaper chapter.

Sure enough, it shows the Mark VII 'inverted'.

Right away I noticed a picture pair that Charlese will appreciate.

The caption under the second of the pair of pictures is:

"If it is more convenient with some jobs to feed the work from right to left. To do this, it is only necessary to reverse the motor drive."

I did not know shaper cutters cut when rotated backwards.


Me thinks that was not well thought out.

Now if the cutter is also flipped over it would work.


Chuck has posted his chagrin when he 'thought' he could run a shaper cutter upside down, but soon realized it needed to be reverse rotation also.


This be the inverse of that 'thinking'.

More about the book later(after I have read it).

I finally finished reading this book. It is essentially the same as the PTWFE versions except it features the Mark VII and touts it's 'new' features. Most of it is the same as PTWFE except for the pix.

My only frustration with it was the lack of locating pix near the text that they pertained to. That may have been intentional, or just plain no effort taken.

Any how It is a good substitute for PTWFE if one has a Mark VII.


P.S. Closer reading of the shaper chapter revealed the need to both reverse rotation, and invert the cutter.
