I don't usually have any luck in making jig and what nots but to say it again, I am glad I made this 20 inch sander.

I have since added a dust collector, above the drum. lots of reason, like when you reach over the spinning drum. don't ask me how I know.




I re sawed some wood, too short for the planner, but had to have a smooth surface for sandwiching between other pieces.

the sander did it's job great. I am sure I couldn't/wouldn't have spent the time sanding with a small palm sander to get the proper and wanted results.

a bowl, the sander really help making each segment equal on each ring, in order to glue up to other blanks.

Good job, farley. Too bad you moved so far away. I could probably find some test cases for you to use to verify performance.

Farley, I would very much like to see a photo or two of your sander with the dust collector in place. I would like to make something like this before long. Thanks for the thread. Hank

here are a couple of shots.

I believe the dust collector would work better lower to the drum, but I had such a time bending the metal, that I accepted it. Would like to redo it, but know I probably won't ever.

Now if you could just rig up a table lifting setup like the shopsmith you would really have something there so you could keep the table level as you raise and lower it. Nice job. Where do you get the sanding drum. Do you have any issues with the drum grabbing the work and shooting it across the room

the sanding drum is a pvc pipe. I turn the ends. no problem in raising the table there a screw in the front pushing the table up. I push from the opposite side so it doesn't shoot it.
