NRCC Fraudulent Campaign Websites

Apparently, the latest slimy trick is for the NRCC to set up fraudulent websites pretending to be whoever runs against their own sell-out candidate. The websites' addresses all have the opponent's name and have the same setup, colors, font, and pictures that the real campaign website has. When searching google for the opponent's name, the fake website is a top result.
Ok, that's fine and dandy and I wouldn't care that much if they didn't also include a donate button. They are taking donations in their opponent's name and stealing the money. It's very clever, but it's also fraud.
I have filed a phishing scam complaint with Google and Microsoft, and the US Computer Emergency Readiness Team who supposedly protect Americans from Internet fraud. I know this won't accomplish anything but I still have to try.

Do a google search and you will find a few articles on this.
Here is one
http://swampland.time.com/2014/02/05/20 ... -websites/
They show an example of Ann Kirkpatrick of Arizona. Frankly I think anyone that goes to the cited Kirkpatrick site and donates thinking they are giving to her should not be allowed to vote as being too stupid.
In bold letters there is a message Kirkpatrick has been a huge embarrassment to Arizona should be a clue to everyone.
While I agree it is a cheap shot tactic, it was instantly apparent to me that this was not Ann Kirkpatrick's site.

Sorry, JPG, but I'm siding with Ed here.
Anyone that gets sucked in by this, doesn't even deserve a driver's license, much less voting rights.
If you can't read the "fine print" (read that as the second line) you shouldn't be allowed to do ANY job that involves thinking. I don't see how anyone smart enough to walk OR chew gum, can't see this. (Much less, walk AND chew gum.)

I think the problem was some of the folks that got pulled in by these dishonest web sites didn't have their glasses on and just clicked on the Big Green Donate button.

Oh I do not disagree with either one of y'all. My disgust was with anyone who
creates this scammy stuff.
It seems the further one is from the pigeon, the less scruples the vultures have. The internet has created a bumper crop of skinny necked fowl.

Not only do they accept money, but they refused to refund the money to those who discovered their mistake until it was plastered all over the news.

I agree. Following that logic makes this even worse. That means they are taking money from those too stupid to know better. And for those who are little less stupid - "no refunds". I have no problem with the parody websites...I actually think they're funny and about on par with today's politics, but I disagree with taking money and refusing refunds. This is especially true since many of those sites are identical in every way to the real candidates campaign site, except for the text under the donate button. It's obvious to almost everyone it's a fake site...but still some folks got duped. Maybe losing the money will teach them to be more careful, but that doesn't mean we should let people run amok preying on the stupid or careless.

Personal attacks won't change the fact it's dishonest. My business that I "advertise" on here is doing 4 motors for FREE for fellow forum members. I haven't asked for anything for helping others with questions by email, or in return for writing a motor guide, or for making videos to help those who need more detail...which will actually take away from my "business". Nothing I do competes with shopsmith in any way and offering reversal keeps more shopsmiths around as power stations. I wonder why you don't chastise the several others on here who do the same and much more? If the admin wishes it gone, by all means it will be. I suspect he or she would have removed it already if truly offended.
Do you
really think comparing me to those involved in this is fair? Hopefully you were just playing politics.

I think he was noting the actions of the one who originated this thread as the pot calling the kettle black. I agree there are different shades of black. No thee is not on the same level as those you initially called to our attention. Charlese did make a valid point!]appear[/U]' as commercial.

While I agree with the disgust over this political ad, I do not believe it to be "fraudulent".
It is a political ad soliciting funds for a campaign. If a citizen donates money without knowing enough to determine where it is going - well, I feel sorry for them. Stupidity has over taken them.
If the NRCC was the only organization doing this, that would be great.
Unfortunately, we have sunken to this level. All campaigning is, in my opinion, low level and misleading.
If you like your policy.....
AFFORDABLE Health Care.... that's a laugh in itself.
Before you fall in behind any political candidate, make sure you know what that candidate and their campaign backers really stand for. Many of the crooks are taking advantage of the candidate as well.
