Went to the Shopsmith demo at Lowe's in Greenville, SC. Billy Martin did a good job and I ordered the do it yer self power pro... So starting the upgrade process of my 81 mark 5 . But the power pro wipes out my budget, so am looking for "slightly" used table upgrade package... And double lift... First question is differences between 520 and mark 7... Is the reversible table with both? Billy made a big point of the rod "slots" having a rounded top that causes the extension tables to be leveled easily... Is that on both? Any help would be appreciated !

I paid $1391 including shipping for the power pro... Supposed to ship in 7 to 10 days... Hope I didn't get "took" too bad...the demo sold me.

A 'Mark 7' is a late model 520 with dual tilt 'upgrade' and Power Pro. There are two versions of the 520 main table(center section ribbing).

"rod slots"???? I assume the inside top of the 520 rails is what he was referring to. Not a new thing.

There is a table upgrade on Ebay that says it is a 520... Looks like a 520 to my uneducated eye... But the top of the "rod slots" look squared off to me, but it is hard to see in the pictures... Did they ever make a 520 table "rail" with flat tops to the holes for the rods?

Rod slots?????????? Again. What in tarnation was he referring to.

FWIW the 510 rails(round) were secured by screws from the side. The 520 changed the rails to the rectangular external shape, but the internal top has a 'nest' for the tubes that are secured from the bottom thus pushing the tubes up into the 'nest'. Only an end view would reveal that 'nest'. I am not aware of any changes since day one of the 520 in this area.

So link to the e-bay listing and we can take a look. We be honorable folks here and do not snipe another members interest. If ya want, just identify where the seller is located.

These be 'correct'. Not easy to see!:)

Well, most of the time.

Remember Bill Mayo posting something he was looking at, and some "wonderful gentleman" basically challenged him to "beat me, sucka?" I wanted to go to Florida and kick his butt hard enough to cause brain damage. (Which, in his case, wouldn't be that hard of a kick.)

It was the "nest" I was referring to... You answered that question... Sorry I don't know the correct nomenclature ... I don't mean to confuse you JPG, another 50-60 years and I'll have this language thing down pat... I am going to pass on that 520 table conversion on Ebay... Will wait til I am more knowledgable ... Thanks for the help...

You got a very good deal:D You will be happy with your purchase. My PowerPro operates on a 510 frame and there are no issues with the 510. If you have a 520, there will be no issue that will cause a necessary conversion to a Mark 7. (although that would be possible if desired)
