I saw something called a Super Shop for sale on CL.Anyoner know anything about these? It looked like a similiar machine to a shop smith but with some design defferences.
A woodworking forum for woodworking hobbyist and woodworking projects related and unrelated to the Shopsmith MARK V
https://forum.shopsmith.com/
A clone that appeared a few years back.(there were others). Some stuff is interchangeable, but much is not(power train especially).paulsgreenbarn wrote:I saw something called a Super Shop for sale on CL.Anyoner know anything about these? It looked like a similiar machine to a shop smith but with some design defferences.
I know that we (at least many of US) think of the SuperShop as a clone but is it really.JPG40504 wrote:A clone that appeared a few years back.(there were others). Some stuff is interchangeable, but much is not(power train especially).

It is a multitool that does much of what the Shopsmith does but does that make it a clone. Think "automobile". Is a Mercedes a clone of the BMW or vice versa?
I would not spend much money on one because of the lack of suppoprt but I would certainly like to get my hands on one, or two, or...JPG40504 wrote:Yer correct! I fergit(again) the super shop is the Fox/Smithy.
Indeed it does similar stuff, but actually is so much more.
It is a cross between wood working and machine tools and its weight reflects that.
It uses many machine tool devices(collets etc.).
Before investing any $ in one of these. I would thoroughly investigate support options(if any).
I was 'thinking' total shop.
