I need to make a small 2 degree angle cut on both sides of a ¾ inch slat as depicted in the attachment. How can I do this on my shop smith? Need to do this for 24 ¾ inch slats to make a coopered lid for a chest. Needs to be accurate and consistent for all 24 slats. Can you tell me how to do this? See attachment.

Sounds like a job for the sanding disk. You could sand one and then use the angle feature of the rip fence (as an angled stop) for the others, using the quill feed and setting it's stop. Then repeat (resetting the rip fence and it's new angle) on the other side.

How wide is the angle do you need? I'm guessing that it needs to be about 1/4" wide bevel? For safety reasons I'd do it with the sanding disk. Once ya have it set up and are happy with the results on the TEST piece, just push thru the other 24 edges.

Not sure that would give me the consistency I need to do 24 slats. Maybe I do not understand your recommendation can you explain again

Assuming you have already made the desired number of 3/4" X 3/4" pieces;

The first rip cut is easy. It's the second side cut that would give me fits.

Instead - how about ripping a 4 degree slant on one side of each board? I think that would yield the same curvature top as 2 each 2 degree slices.

You can use an I phone or a Wixey (if you have one) to help zero in on the 4 degree angle of the table. If you use only the protractor built into the Shopsmith, remember to use the vernier scale. You should be able to come real close to the desired table tilt.

Take a test cut or two to make sure your setting is what you want.

I'd do this operation on the table saw with a push stick and feather board.

Or- on the bandsaw - again with a push stick.

Angle is just 2 degrees on a 3/4 x 3/4 inch slat. Idea is to have it 3/4 inch on top and 23/32 inch on bottom. Not much of a change.

Chuck thanks for the input but not sure that would work as this is for a curved top for a chest and I think it needs the cuts on both sides of the slat. See attached diagram.

I looked at the PDF and still think the 4 degree on one side would work. The only difference would be on the first and last slat. Difference wouldn't be noticeable.
