Why do posts that I have read keep coming back as UNREAD?

Is this something I can cure or is it inherent with the site?

If ya close your browser by clicking on the X in the top right hand corner. The site won't mark your read posts as read. If ya close the browser by clicking on "FILE"/"EXIT" or log off the forum, the read posts will be saved. Also I like to use the "FORUM TOOLS" to mark a section as read.

I have had that happen in the past. The solution I found was to Log Out of this site and then Log In again.

That seems to work; at least the one time that I just used that method.

However, it seems as though reading a post and then browsing on to others and doing the same should identify those posts as "READ". I mean, after all, I read them.

Them seemed to be closed until I leave the site and then come back only to find that the "just read" posts are again highlighted.

This is no big deal - just a little frustrating.

Never do that on purpose!:D

Gotta try the exit/logoff.

File/exit kills ALL browser sessions

OK, I tried the file/exit scheme. It killed ALL current browser sessions, not just the Forum.

Remind me to NEVER do that again!

It did not keep the marked as read info.

So I guess I will try logoff next.

I am confused. Do you not close down your browser when you plan to be gone from your computer for a while.

Closing your browser does nothing more than require you to log back in.

Click on 'Mark Forums Read' at the bottom of the forums list.

So much depends on how your browser is configured. What works for me may not work for you.
I also have run into that 'unread' thing and my solution was to use the forum tool to mark that forum as read then restart the browser. It works but does not explain why it happens. I don't know if it is a function of cookies on my PC or SS server.
It is annoying to say the least.
