what to do with motor

I took a 1/3 hp 1725 rpm CW only rotation off a swamp cooler.

is there anything I can do with this motor?

the beal system require CCW---so that is out.

If you can get to the windings you can probably make it reversible. What brand is it?

Assuming that the windings are accessible, is there any reason why a motor should not be run in reverse if it is not identified as "being reversible"?

Simpler 'conversion' from CCW to CW.

Remove the end bells(caps).

Reverse them and the armature.

This will not work if it is a capacitor start motor with a start switch on one end.

Being a smaller hp motor, it may not be a capacitor start motor.

it's a Emerson.
Says on the motor "motor is non-reversible"

Which means they did not provide external wires and a method for electrically reversing it.

My suggestion was mechanical.]type[/U] motor is it?

We already know about capacitor start motors.

There are also capacitor run motors.

There are shaded pole motors(no capacitors)(low starting torque, commonly used for fan motors).

There are inductive start/run motors also(sorta the inverse of capacitor start motors)(they usually have start relays).

Does it have either a capacitor or relay, or both or neither?

I take this to mean it was a fan in its former life, correct?

Then it might do best as a fan again, stick in a box and put replaceable furnace filters on the in and out flow sides to collect dust???
