Daughters Birthday Gift

The shop is finally warm enough to work in comfort. Thought I'd share a project. I got a couple of hours in on Friday night and Saturday. My oldest is into Zebra prints right now so,

I got as far as the box glued together and the intarsia rose cut out.

Monday night(tonight) I am working on the feet and lid if I get a chance. Goal is to have it done only a few days late. Her birthday was Sunday.

My corners turned out good. That doesn't happen all the time and I prototyped the feet. 1st round of cutting them out was at the scroll saw but I couldn't get a tight enough fit so I'm going to try something else tonight.

I ran the blank for the feet through the router to get nice square corners this time. Then I made the lid. In need to put the intarsia on the top. This is my first intarsia project so I have a question for the field. I'm going to finish with a clear poly so can I finish the lid first, then use the poly as a glue for the intarsia pieces? It's not like its going to see a lot of stress.
