I made one for one of my rifles about 20 years ago. I simply went to my local wood supplier and picked out a block of Walnut that I liked. It would have been simpler to get a precut blank from one of the many suppliers selling them today.

Either way, you can do it if you want to. After shaping the stock, I fitted and glass bedded it for accuracy. It has served me well.

Since I am left handed, I re-stock all my rifles keeping the original stocks in the safe. I am always interested in what other people do and how they do it.

How about that? I'm left handed too, and the gun I made a stock for is my Savage 110L. I didn't like the shape of the original stock, so I made my own. The original one is still in the closet, but highly unlikely it would ever go back on the gun.
