Can an Emerson motor be reversed?

I looked to see if this was already covered and could not find anything.

I've got a 1 1/8 emerson motor in my 2nd unit and would like to have it reworked to run reversed.

Questions: Can it be done on an Emerson?
Is it worth doing?
Souces to have it done? (I think this is beyond my expertise)
and any ideas, tips, suggestions?

Thanks.... Steve

I have one that I too would like to modify but it has been reported here on the forum that this can not be done with an Emerson motor. It seems that Emerson buried the wires so far down in the windings that they can not be retrieved.

A splice is buried in the Emerson motor. The other brands are I believe all reversible(splices accessible).

Just my luck

I accept trade-ins on rebuilt reversible Shopsmith motors when I have one available. Please check with me before buying an additional motor. You can sell your Emerson motor on Ebay after buying a reversible Shopsmith motor. I hope to offer another rebuilt 1 1/8 HP reversible motor on Ebay within the next month or two. Check the motor I recently sold on Ebay, item #351021085381 for a description of a Shopsmith reversible motor to look for when buying one.

Odd, I got there by cut and pasting just the number. However, I just tried it again with the pound sign (#) attached and it did not work. Perhaps that was the problem.
