Velcro questions

Recently I've read threads here about building drum sanders. I want to build one when I retire.
I know how Velcro works I understand the need for various... oh lets call it hooks per sq/in
I've noticed Velcro with various sizes of hook n loops From the giant stuff for my toll road I-pass
to the fine stuff to hold down small flaps on things. I realize I know nothing about the standards.
If I buy the self adhesive hook material from one place and the sandpaper from another how do
I choose them to be a match?
I found one seller on eBay that has BAV numbers for the hook material and WAV numbers for loop material.
These numbers seem to range from 20 to 50. In my searching I've found it to be rare to find anyone
selling a Velcro product that gives any kind of number other than length and width .
With all the home made drum sanders I've seen here someone must have traveled this road before me.

Any thoughts?

Good question. Maybe Paul miller (Shipwright) will chime in. He built a dandy one for the Shopsmith.

EDIT: I just did a quick search and came up with his blog on http://lumberjocks.com/shipwright/blog/26701
It looks like he ordered a Velcro kit from Grizzly.

Remove the closing quotation mark and I think your link will work.

What length and diameter drum is that good for? It only gives a model number it's for.

I might as well make it as long as will fit on my Shopsmith .... Never know about future needs.
