Here is a 1964 Craftsmen Wood Shaper priced at $82.99. With the pedestal stand and ball bearing motor it costs $136.94 (when you read the fine print). In today's dollars that is $1043.81.

I haven't run the numbers but I would think you could outfit your SS with a shaper package for a lot less than $1043.81
