There were 22 Shopsmith Stores in the US; probably none today. I picked this up at the store in Orange County which was closed and empty the next time I went there to buy something.

Mine has June Cleavers sister standing next to hubby in a poodle skirt, tight sweater, medium heels with a look of great appreciation on her face as hubby shows her the end table he just finished on the SS in the knotty pine paneled work room.
Ya the patches that "mother" sown on the worn through elbows.
Never could do the bare foot in leather shoes, once in a great while in a bare of canvas loafers.

You don't know how to live. A good pair of leather shoes and bare foot. Soon the leather molds itself and polishes itself the bare foot and it becomes total luxury.

Besides in the south we are usually so near water my shoes are almost always wet. Can't imagine wearing wet socks in a wet shoe. But let that baby dry on you foot and you can sleep in them. :D

Couldn't have said it any better. Here in the desert, socks are too hot. Skin on leather was the normal pre industrial revolution look .... you starved then, but your feet were comfortable ... :D
