Iron On Edge Banding

I have an old folding table made with MDF. It was originally cover with formica. The formica edges have gotten clipped and look awful.
I can trim the edges with a router to clean that up but I really do not want to go to the effort of applying formica edge banding.
I am thnking about doing this with iron on melamine. Has anyone done this. Comments/recommendations please.

I have used the iron edging. Work good.
Make sure that the surface is very clean and make sure the iron is up to temp. (Read and follow the directions)
Go oversize like any other edging and then trim after the glue has cured (It should say on the instructions)
Good luck.
